We also have a best decks tier list for LoR and an agent tier list for Valorant.

Methodology TLDR:

  • Our first tier list aimed at lower ELO, specifically Bronze up to high Plat/low Diamond. Our second tier list is for high ELO, aimed at Diamond 2 and above.
  • Our experts curate these picks and are an indicator of the champion’s inherent strength when played at the highest level. For many of the user base, this information isn’t super relevant for their games but provides invaluable insight into the game itself.

Let’s say you’re debating between learning and climbing with Jax (A-tier | Simple) or Rengar (A-tier | Severe) – you’re going to want to go with Jax. Why? This is because Jax has a lower skill floor and would require less games to play at an A-Tier level in solo Queue. If you tried to pick up Rengar, you wouldn’t get the full value of A-tier until after about 15 matches of practice whereas with Jax, you would get that full 15 every time you play him.

Expert pick commentary

LoL Tier List feature example

Top – Shen

  • Shen has been gathering some popularity over recent weeks and is proving he’s better than most people give him credit for. His influence on games with his Ultimate is undeniable and whether you build him full tank, splitpush duelist or even utility focused he’s always a fantastic pick into any team comp.
  • With AD Carries receiving so many item buffs it could be a heavily bot lane focused meta, so lock in Shen, press R, and GGWP!

Jungle – Rek’Sai

  • Rek’Sai has been one of the best junglers in the game recently, and this won’t slow down in patch 14.10.
  • She has solid clears, unpredictable ganks, fantastic skirmishing power and can snowball games exceptionally quickly, so if you know what you’re doing, she might just feel like freelo.
  • With the Black Cleaver buffs this patch, she’s only going to get stronger, so give her a go!

Mid – Vex

  • Vex has been recently starting bouncing back in the mid lane, especially so at lower ranks and with some positive changes to Luden’s Companion, we feel she might be one of the best choices you can play to carry and stomp those low elo lobbies.
  • Vex is the ultimate diving machine with her ultimate, and once you get fed you will one shot and reset your way through enemy carries in a matter of seconds!

Bottom – Samira

  • Samira has always been a fantastic solo carry pick in the right hands and with the ADC item buffs this patch her classic build of Collector into IE is going to be back to it’s full strength again.
  • Samira is one of the scariest AD Carries in the game once she gets fed, so if you enjoy aggressive gameplay and the ability to 1v9, lock her in!

Support – Leona

  • Leona has been a super consistent pick recently and with AD Carries looking like they’re going to be super strong in patch 14.10, she is an amazing support into such a huge variety of matchups and synergies.
  • Leona offers insane gank set up and teamfight initiation, proving an amazing addition to any draft, so if an engaging playstyle is your thing, she’s the perfect choice.

Top – Camille

  • Camille is still looking like one of the strongest top lane picks you play in Patch 14.10.
  • She’s had an amazing few months and with no nerfs on the way to her OR any of her key items, she’s going to continue her dominance in Season 14.
  • Camille has always been an amazing pick in high elo, as she’s got all the tools she needs to outplay enemies against all of the odds and carry by herself!

Jungle – Shaco

  • Shaco has been terrorizing the solo queue ladder recently across all ranks, but it’s those High Elo OTP’s that are truly some of the scariest opponents in the game right now.
  • Shaco has various build paths but with all the big crit changes in 14.10, his AD crit builds are going to get even stronger. That combined with his tricksy playstyle, slippery nature and ability to gank, snowball and win games before they even begin is why he’s such a great pick this patch.

Mid – Akali

  • Akali is a seriously scary pick in high elo when players truly know how to exploit and abuse all of her strengths.
  • She’s got insane burst damage, fantastic mobility and such creative ways to outplay her enemies against the odds and come out on top even in the most unlikely of situations.
  • Akali snowballs extremely hard so if you’ve got what it takes, it’s time to pick her back up again!

Bottom – Draven

  • Draven has already been one of the strongest AD Carries in the game in recent weeks, and with all the item and crit changes in patch 14.10, he’s going to be up there with the best champions in the game.
  • Draven has always had a reputation of being a high elo menace, due to him being so difficult to master, but when you know what you’re doing, he can completely destroy games with his insane snowballing power!

Support – Nautilus

  • Nautilus is one of the most reliable engaging supports in the game, and with AD Carries looking like they will define the meta this patch, he’s the perfect pick to get stuck into 2v2s and snowball games seriously quickly.
  • Nautilus not only has the widest hook in the game, but also has that point and click ultimate, giving him the ability to shut down enemy carries without too much counterplay!

Disclaimer #1: If a champion isn’t on our LoL Tier List, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t climb with them. You’ll just have to put in more effort to get similar results as our Optimal, Great, and Good choices for climbing.
Disclaimer #2: This list is meant to evaluate the champions that we believe are best for climbing Solo Queue. Although there can certainly be some overlap, we are NOT looking to name the champions that are the best in pro-play or organized, competitive 5-on-5. This is why champs that require a ton of team coordination such as Ryze, may not be included or ranked highly.

As always, we welcome all discussion and feedback.
